Charlie Ward: Former NBA Player & Heisman Trophy Winner

Meet Charlie Ward. He is a Heisman Trophy winner who was a star football and basketball player at Florida State. Most of us aren’t talented enough to play one sport at the college level, yet Charlie was able to play two sports at the Division I college level. He then went on to have an eleven year career in the NBA, mostly with the NY Knicks and a few seasons with the Houston Rockets. Seems like he had it all together, but guess what, none of us are perfect. We all struggle with something. In this video Charlie Ward shared a serious struggle that many of us struggle with today. In Chapter six of Coach Joe Gibbs book, Game Plan for Life, Ravi Zacharias talks about sin and addiction and how each of us has a problem with sin since the days of Adam and Eve.

Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

Romans 3:23 lays out the bad news, but in Romans 5:8 we get the good news –

Romans 5:8 But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

You see Charlie is just like you and me; we all struggle with some type of sin or addiction in our life. But, Charlie fought his temptation the same way Jesus fought off temptation in Matthew 4 – with the Word of God, scripture. God gave us the playbook in the Bible, but we tend not to take time to study His word and meditate on it night and day. Watch his video to learn more.
